The Android app carries the same boards as the web app — Today, Calendar, Jobs, Lists, Meals, Rewards — against the same server. It runs on Android 8.0 or newer. Like the web app it works offline: reads come from a local cache, writes queue and replay when the connection returns.
Get it
Each release attaches a signed APK
(eagraiclainne_v2.2.0.apk) to the
releases page,
covered by the release's checksums file. Install it one of two
ways:
- Sideload — download the APK on the phone and open it.
- Obtainium —
each release also attaches a ready import file
(
eagraiclainne-obtainium_v2.2.0.json). Import it and Obtainium tracks the releases page, so new versions arrive as app updates.
After an update, the app opens a what's-new sheet with the release notes.
First start
On first start the app asks for the server address — the same
address in the phone's browser, for example
http://your-server:8080. Sign in with the same account
as on the web, and the board is there. Setting up the server itself
is the install guide.
Push notifications
Push is built in: the app holds its own connection to your server, so there is no push distributor to set up and no Google services involved. Members hear about new, cancelled, and moved events, get event reminders at a lead time each event sets, and get job due and late reminders. A job's owner also hears when the job grows sub-jobs. Each kind of notification has its own Android channel to tune or silence.
Home-screen widgets
The widget picker offers seven, each a view of the same board the app shows:
| Widget | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Today | Today's events and jobs, at a glance |
| Jobs | Your jobs, ticked from the home screen |
| Calendar | The month at a glance, everyone's colour on their days |
| Day dial | Today as a ring — what's left, at arm's length |
| Next up | The next thing on the board, one tap away |
| Points | Your points and the next reward |
| Quick add | New event, job, or list entry in one tap |
Every widget draws in the member's own theme and refreshes on a 15-minute beat. A tap opens the record it shows — never a menu. Ticking a job on the Jobs widget is the one thing a widget does in place; everything else deep-links into the app. The Points widget shows only the signed-in member's own balance, never a sibling's.
The Calendar widget and the Day dial
The two calendar widgets answer different questions. The month grid answers when is the thing: one dot per person with something on that day, capped at three — past three, the third slot becomes a merged two-colour lozenge meaning "and others". A dashed dot is an unclaimed job. The dial answers what is left of today: a fixed 24-hour ring with midnight at the top, events as arcs in their owner's colour, job deadlines as small ticks outside the ring, the night hours shaded, and a hand at now. When two events overlap, the ring splits into two lanes.
The month grid is the default calendar placement and needs 4×4; below that it falls back to agenda rows on its own. The dial needs 3×3 and shows today, full stop — no day picker, no swipe. After 21:00, once nothing is left, day-scoped widgets roll to tomorrow and say so in their header; a job that passed its due time stays late in every widget, never dropped.
Widgets never re-render on a clock — urgency is a word on the 15-minute beat, not a ticking number — and none of them animates: completion is a stamped mark, one frame. Placement options (which form of Today, read-only Jobs rows for a hallway tablet) are set when the widget is placed.
